On a cold winters day in the December Rodolphus Beauregard Lestrange was brought into the world to the delight of his parents, François Lestrange and Isolde Huester-Lestrange. Rodolphus would be heir to the English side of the Lestranges, they originally hailed from France generations ago, but they had lived in the English countryside for years and married into the powerful families of England, Scotland, and Wales.
As a young child Rodolphus showed small signs of magical ability. Toys would be lost, but somehow would reappear in his hands. Like most children, these feats went unnoticed by his parents. However, very little time was spent for play. François had made it a personal mission to sculpt his heir into the perfect gentleman, to the point that his first words were “please” and “thank you”. By age ten, Rodolphus had learned all there was to know about the social graces of required for society men, including the ideals of pureblooded superiority.
On the eleventh year of his life, Rodolphus boarded a train to Hogwarts. Nervously, the boy awaited sorting. Lestrange’s had been sorted into Slytherin “since the time of Salazar Slytherin himself”, his mother proudly told him as they waited on the platform. Rodolphus would join the ranks of his ancestors as a Slytherin. During his years at the school studies would go well and he would begin to excel in Defense Against The Dark Arts and Transfiguration along with scoring high grades on the N.E.W.T.s and O.W.L.s. Midway through his years of Hogwarts, a beautiful woman caught his eye. Her name was Bellatrix Black. The moment he saw her, she took his breath away. As quickly as she came, she disappeared. Fortunately, Bellatrix would reappear later and this time Rodolphus would make certain she wouldn’t get away.
The summer after his fourth year, Rodolphus returned to his childhood home to see his younger brother. Rabastan had been born during the school year and Isolde refused that her son miss classes on her account. Already a teenager, Rodolphus understood why his mother’s attention moved from himself to his younger brother. There was no jealousy, there was admiration for the little boy. Due to the significant age difference, Rodolphus and Rabastan are not as close as most siblings.
As graduation approached whispers of a grand plan under the Dark Lord were audible in the Slytherin Common Room. Slightly unsure at first, Rodolphus met with the Dark Lord at the urging of his close friend Lucius Malfoy. He was an amazing speaker and Lestrange was instantly ready to give his life to the cause. Initiation took time, but Rodolphus persevered. Branded and a full-fledged member, he did his masters bidding. Then Bellatrix returned into his life, her conviction was even stronger than his own. Rodolphus was instantly attracted to her once more.
The war was swift and Lestrange chose the wrong side. Together with his wife and brother, he spent years in Azkaban swearing vengeance for the punishment for the righteous torture of the Longbottoms. Finally, they escaped and Rodolphus was going to make the world pay
for their conviction.
